It's colder than butt here in Missouri, so I've been hibernating in front of the fireplace away from the computer. I've temporarily ventured out of my cave of survival to dip my double-socked toes in the virulent pool of 2008 politics. In short, Mike Huckabee is a total douchebag. Not only is he pretty liberal on economic and other issues, but he just doesn't have the moxie to beat Hillary or Obama come election time. The recent negative-ad-fiasco left Huckabee looking like a complete loser, at least in my opinion. It showed a lack of strategy and common sense. It's like voting for something before you voted against it, and expecting everyone to swallow it like Monica Lewinsky. Omg, I can't believe I just wrote that, it's the cold weather I swear.
In other news, Ron Paul has apparently been abducted by Martians because we haven't seen anything about our favorite little Martian on the MSM, probably because everyone has realized Paul doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell.
Fred Thompson's disappointing launch hasn't gained any steam. I listened to a web blurb from him a couple of days ago, and it didn't really impress me. He seems kind of slow and lazy. That's how you could describe his "campaign." A flash in the pan, I guess.
Mitt Romney continues to tread water, staying ahead of the other contenders. He is by far my favorite of all the candidates, but that's not saying too much. I think he'd make a great president but I also think the public's ignorance of his religion is going to hurt him in the long run. (FYI, I am not Mormon.)
John McCain is like the animal you think is dead but it suddenly starts twitching and gasping and you're like "Oh crap, it's still alive," and then you just feel bad for it and walk away because it's super gross.
Rudy is still Rudy. I think he'd make a good president, too, but his liberal gun and abortion policies have and will continue to alienate Mid-America. He also doesn't seem to have as much finesse as Romney, although that might not be a bad thing.
Anyone else I missed? Too bad, they suck and won't win.

Now, wait. I'm Middle America & you're Middle America and Rudy has won us over. I think when people middle America won't vote for him they need to clarify that to the hardcore religious Right won't vote for him. I think more moderate Conservatives will.
Huckabee is still my second. Paul is still "Summers Eve", Thompson's running for VP, McCain is fast becoming the Al Gore of the right. Run, lose, run, lose. And Romney is uninspiring.
Yeah, but I still think Rudy will suffer a lot here in the Midwest and South because of guns and abortion. Huckabee is really economically liberal and I just don't think he has what it takes to appeal to the majority of Americans come election time. Romney is my favorite so far. But the field is still slim pickins. I think you're right about Thompson running for VP
"Poor Ike. He'll sit here and say 'Do this.' and 'Do that.' and nothing will happen. This place is nothing like the army."
